Tellus Museum

On our way back home from our Tennessee trip during spring break, I took the kids to the Tellus Science Museum in Cartersville, GA. It did not disappoint.

We are no strangers to science museums (or any other type of museum). And as our children are getting older, we walk a fine line of finding places that are age appropriate that don’t feel “too babyish,” or “too boring.” Tellus was perfect for a 2nd, 4th, and 6th grader…just right.

My girls will be studying Astronomy next year and so Tellus provided the perfect teaser for many things they will cover in their curriculum. There were several major exhibits that we spent about half an hour at each. There was also a planetarium with shows, but the museum attendant encouraged us to skip that since we only had a few hours and this was our first visit.

There was a wonderful mineral and fossil gallery.

We even got to take a little walk on the moon! (Science in motion exhibit)

My kids especially loved the “My Big Backyard” space where all of the motion science was made practical and fun for them. IMG_8245IMG_8246

After seeking their feedback on the museum, our kids said their absolute favorite part of the museum was the fossil dig and gem panning.

Some of our other favorite museums we’ve visited like this one:
